Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector opens up a new world of options for nugget hunters

Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector

For several months I’ve been reading all the information that I can digest about the Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector. Now that does not mean that I’ll be buying one but keeping your options open is always a good idea.

One of the key features that the Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector offers is a compact folding design. This is a huge benefit for those who like to hike and store items in our backpacks. The additional benefit to this feature is ease with travel. Getting a detector on a plane to visit Alaska or other remote places can be challenging. In reading the specs it folds down to a 8.5 ich by 16 inch package.

The weight of the Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector is also impressive at 5.3 pounds and it’s advertised as assembly free. Both features are great benefits to anyone new to nugget hunting.

The Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector is said to be perfect for finding sub gram gold nuggets. For me as a seasoned gold prospector that’s a point of concern as my Fisher Gold Bug 2 excels at finding small gold. However, if you are new to nugget shooting or just need a change of pace in your nugget hunting routine the Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector just might be the perfect gold detector rekindle your interest. Its also interesting to note that the technology used with the Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector is MPF technology. MPF stands for Multi Period Fast and in layman’s terms that means minimal ground noise and sharp gold nugget signals. This article is a good intro to the technical side of things for any newbie.

The LED lights on the Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector are a huge benefit to those with a hearing impairment. The LEDs show signal strength, threshold level and battery status. I wish my Minelab GPX has LEDs.

Of course on the various gold detecting forums the story is playing out rather predictably. Those who stand to profit from sales of the Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector all join in mass consensus about its performance. The real test is non sponsored end user feedback and we son’t see that for sometime but when we do it will be time to pay closer attention. All that said, personally I am a huge Minelab fan overall but have had mixed experiences with the various Minelab gold detectors I’ve owned over the years. Looking to the future with the Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector in mind as a possible future purchase I remain cautiously optimistic.
